Review: Clinique Anti Blemish 3 Step System

Clinique is well known for their skincare products and is probably what makes them a unique brand. They cater to different types of skin from dry to normal to oily and now acne prone. I went to do some research before purchasing these products and it seemed like the Anti Blemish 3 Step System received mix reviews. However because I have acne skin, I bought the 3 step system without any hesitation as I wanted to test their claim that their product can aid in clearing up acne.

You can find these products at all Sephora and Clinique Stores in Singapore

Step One: Clinique Cleansing Foam 125ml ($40)

Claims:

  • Mild, Medicated Cleansing Foam
  • Clear and Prevents Acne
  • Removes Dirt and Excess Oil
  • Unclogs Pores
  • Clams and Soothes, Visibly Reduce Redness
  • Skin feels Soft, Smooth and Comfortable
The Cleansing Foam does not smell nice at all, which shows that Clinique does not include fragrances in the product and this a good thing. People with sensitive skin can use it. (Lets take a second and applaud Clinique for that.) It smells medicated as seen from one of the claims. The cleansing foam worked up into a soft and smooth application. I only used about 2 pumps and it does the work. After rinsing off, my skin really does feel clean and smooth. The redness around my face also seems to reduce quite a bit.

Step 2:  Clinique Anti-Blemish Clarifying Lotion 200 ml ($43)

Claims:

  • Gentle, Medicated Formula
  • Exfoliates to clear dead surface cells, reduces excess oil that can lead to breakouts.
  • Unclogs Pores
  • Oil-absorbing Powders to Eliminate Shine
  • Soothes irritation, visible redness
The Clarifying Lotion claims to be gentle which makes me unsure as it can sting a little over sore acne due to the Salicylic acid and alcohol content. This is a alcohol based toner and doesn't dry out my skin which I love, love, love. It really does exfoliate and reduce excess oil because my skin feels really good after using it. My skin does not shine as much as it used to anymore which is another plus for me. It also soothes irritation but does not reduce the redness for me which is a bummer. Overall, it is still a great product. Before using please shake vigorously to mix the Oil-absorbing Powders and Salicylic acid powder with the rest of the product. I tilted the bottle over a cotton pad 2 times before using, in a wiping direction.

Step 3: Clinique Anti-Blemish Clearing Moisturiser 50 ml ($43)

Claims:
  • Lightweight, Medicated Formula to treat existing acne and prevent future breakouts.
  • Create a barrier against acne-causing agent.
  • Calms, soothes, visibly reduces redness.
  • Lightly hydrates to minimize dryness and peeling.
The Moisturiser is really lightweight and absorbed quickly into the skin. I used it right after using the Clarifying Lotion. The moisturiser really does do what it claims it soothes and reduces redness and lightly hydrates to minimize dryness and peeling. It also smells slightly better than the other 2 products. Lastly the moisturiser also contains Salicylic acid to prevent future breakouts and treat existing acne like what the cleanser and toner does.

I have been using the Clinique Anti Blemish 3 Step System for over 3 weeks now day and night and my skin has started improving. I used to cake on my foundation and recently I realised that the usage on the amount of my foundation had reduced significantly. This really shows that now I have less things to cover!

Pros:
  • Improve on my blemishes
  • Does not break out as much as before
  • Skin felt brighter
  • Lesser makeup is needed
  • Skin does not shine as much as before
  • Pores unclogged
Cons:
  • Seems to be on the pricey side. ($126) for the whole 3 Step cleansing system
  • Toner are alcohol based and not everyone can used it
  • The smell of this product
Would I recommend it?

YES

Would I purchase it again?

Most Probably ( Unless I find something better)
